#Kinsale History Society to unveil memorial stone to #Lusitania victim

Thanks to Mike Poirier for finding this video.

For those of you on your way to Kinsale, Ireland for this year’s anniversary 101 (and I wish I were!):

On Saturday, 7 May 2016 (today!) at 2pm, the Kinsale History Society is hosting its annual commemoration of the sinking of the Lusitania at the St. Multose Church cemetery, and all are invited. This year, a memorial stone to Margaret Mackenzie Shineman will be unveiled. For the past 101 years, her grave was marked as the “unknown woman victim” because of how quickly she had been buried after her body had been recovered from the wreck site.

Many thanks to Lusitania friends Bronwen Woods and Eric Sauder for making this happen and correcting this long-standing historical error. Bronwen’s husband Richard Woods, son of Lusitania survivor Nancy Wickings-Smith Woods, will speak at the event.
