  1. My grandfather was a survivor of the Lusitania, and my mother possesses a number of documents from the trip, including water-soaked paper money from his rescue. How would we go about having these items appraised?

    • Unfortunately, I don’t know much about appraising items. Perhaps someone who visits this site or the forum can help. I am curious to know who your grandfather is and if you might be able to contribute a biography or pictures of him for the website. Thank you!

  2. My grandfather was Robert James Ewart. His daughter, my mother, is now 90 and living in my home. She would be glad to contribute. please tell us what you would like. Her phone is 646. 546-8927,we are in NYC.

    • Hi Helene
My name is Mike. I own an original letter your grandfather sent to a friend after the disaster, a telegram he sent from Queenstown and a water stained Lusy postcard he sent to the friend. I can email you scans.

PS do you know the date and place of death of Mr Ewart?

I am interested in Robert James Ewart as I believe he may be a relative of mine. My mothers maiden name is Ewart, her father was a James Ewart and came from the townland of Cormeen, near the village of Killylea in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. There is some family folk lore that a member of the family survived the sinking of the Lusitania. Any infomation about Robert James would be appreaciated, espaecially details of his parents, or siblings. Regards, John.
