Mrs. Thomas Barker (Martha Ann Bullock)

Martha Barker, 39, was a United States citizen from Trenton, New Jersey, United States.  She was born Martha Ann Bullock and married Thomas Barker.  Thomas was a naturalized citizen of the United States. They had two daughters, Winifred and Doris. In Trenton, the family lived on Atlantic Avenue.

In May 1915, Martha took passage on the Lusitania to visit her sick mother in England, bringing 9-year-old Winifred with her. She left behind her husband Thomas and daughter Doris, then 14 years of age. In the sinking of the Lusitania on 7 May 1915, Winifred Barker was lost. Martha was saved but subjected to exposure and the loss of her daughter.

The property which was lost belonging to her and her daughter was valued at $500.00.

Thomas died not long afterwards and Martha remarried to a man by the name of Gretton. In her lawsuit against Germany she was awarded the full amount she claimed for the loss of her daughter and their belongings.
