Margaret Tuohy, 25, was a British citizen who survived the Lusitania sinking and was treated at the hospital in Queenstown. She was pronounced fit to be discharged by Monday, 10 May 1915.
Margaret Touhy had been working in the United States as a nanny. She was in a life boat which then capsized, and she was apparently pulled from the water by a soldier. She never wanted to talk about her experience. She married a man by the name of Mulhern and had five children.

Margaret was my grandmother. My father John was one of her sons, he was brought up in Attymass, Co Mayo, Ireland. I’m afraid I am unable to provide any more information, my father passed away in 2010.
Could you tell us her married name and when and where she died in order to complete her bio?

Hello, I am the great granddaughter of Margaret. I have always been fascinated by the story, I will ask my mum if she can provide any further information.
My mum has some of her jewellery that survived with her despite her ordeal of being on the stricken Lusitania.

Hi As sead previous she returned to Mayo where she married a Mulherin my wife is named after her grandmother we live close to the origional home place
She never spoke about what happened to anyone
They say my wife Margaret looked like her I did find a photo once on the web of a young woman walking between two men who all survived the sinking she was the image of my wife unfortunately I did not save the photo
My mum was also named after Margaret too. My grandfather was John Mulherin. My grandfather also said that my mum was the double of his mother.
It’s fascinating how we resemble our ancestors.
I’m Robert Mulhern, margaret’s Grandson, she died in 1962 in Mayo, not sure which town.
My grandmother knew her and told me about her. My grandmother was Mary Jane Carr, from Graffy Killaser Swinford County Mayo. Her sister Amelia Carr was to sail on the ship by didn’t sail because they knew Germany would torpedo the ship. It was in the Columbus Papers . Amelia stayed in Pittsburgh and returned to Columbus , Ohio and never returned to Ireland.
