Lusitania Modeling

These are photos from a Lusitania model built by Bill Young from Rochester New York, a member of the Titanic Research and Modeling Association. Here R.M.S. Lusitania is as she appeared in August 1907 during her sea trials, just prior to her maiden voyage. This model is at 1:144 scale and was built from scratch between 1 September 2007 and 31 March 2008. The model was constructed as a builders or owners model would be and is also radio controlled and fully lit. The models keel and frames are of 1/4 inch luan and the hull is skinned largely in aircraft plywood, as is the superstructure. The table the model rests on is made of oak with mahogany keel blocks. If you have your own Lusitania model and would like to share your photos on this website, please contact us.
