Mr. Thomas Brennan, Trimmer

Thomas Brennan was a trimmer aboard Lusitania who survived the sinking. He survived by clinging to wreckage for several hours. His family had not known that he had survived until a week after the disaster. By that time, he had been taken to Cork, Ireland.

Family legend states that Alfred Vanderbilt had seen Brennan in the water and offered Brennan a share of the Vanderbilt fortune to help him. Brennan was in no condition to help and Vanderbilt perished. Brennan had two fingers in permanently paralyzed as a result of the Lusitania disaster. Thomas Brennan lived into his eighties.
